New Director of Marketing for Witan Investment Trust
Tuesday, 07 November 2017
Witan Investment Trust is pleased to announce that, following an extensive search, it has appointed Alexis Barling as its new Director of Marketing. Alexis will join the team on 13th November.
We are delighted that Alexis is joining us at Witan this month, having most recently spent six years at Pantheon, latterly as Head of Investor Relations for Pantheon International PLC. Witan is placing increased emphasis on communicating its investment objectives and results as effectively as possible to shareholders and potential investors. This makes it easier for investors to decide how Witan fits in with their own investment objectives. Alexis’s widely varied experience, ranging from sell-side corporate broking to marketing investment funds will strengthen our efforts in meeting this aim.
Andrew Bell, Chief Executive Officer of Witan Investment Trust
We also wish every good fortune to Hannah Philp, who is leaving us after three years, to set up her own business in a different field.

Witan Investment Trust plc
Established in 1909, Witan is one of the UK's largest investment trusts, managing £2.2bn on behalf of over 25,000 investors (source: Witan, as at 31.10.2017). Witan operates a multi-manager structure and currently has 10 external managers.Witan is listed in the 'Global Growth' sector and is a member of the FTSE 250 index. Registered as an Investment Company in England No 101625. For further details please visit www.witan.com.
As a self-managed investment trust the purpose of Witan’s marketing is to provide effective communication of developments at the Company to existing and potential shareholders to help sustain a liquid market in its shares. Other things being equal, this
should help the shares to trade at a narrower discount than otherwise, from which all shareholders clearly benefit.
In view of these potential benefits, the Company has for many years operated a marketing programme in order to spread information about its investment strategy and performance (and those of Witan Pacific Investment Trust plc) more widely. This programme communicates with private and professional investors, financial advisers and intermediaries using a range of media (including direct meetings, press interviews and advertising through traditional media and the internet). The Company also provides informative and easy to use web-sites (www.witan.com and www.witanpacific.com) to enable investors to make informed decisions about whether to include Witan (or Witan Pacific) shares in their investment portfolios.
